Underpaid Recruitment and Search Firm Owners

There’s a danger when growing your Recruitment or Search business of getting too bogged down in ‘activity’… I see it all the time, ambitious Recruitment/Search Firm owners who hear about the potential that this industry holds and so dedicate every spare hour of their day to just “doing stuff”…

I admire them at one level because taking some action is better than no action at all. And there are far too many Recruitment and Search Firm owners who are taking ‘no action’ for my liking… And then they wonder why nothing changes….

But sometimes, if all that action you’re taking doesn’t get results it can end up costing you more money than it’s making you.

It’s a sad sight to see, hard working Recruitment or Search Firm owners running ever faster just to feel like they’re standing still.

I’ve been there myself…

The expression overworked and underpaid springs to mind…

Not many people will ever understand the blood, sweat and tears that go into making a business work… They just see it from the outside without a clue as to what’s going on behind the scenes…

When it comes to marketing, people often make the mistake of thinking there’s not always a price to pay…

They believe that some marketing is free and some paid for…

That’s not the case… You either pay in monetary terms or you pay with time… But there is always a price to be paid.

That being said. It’s vital that everything we do concerning business growth, whether we pay for it with time or money, is profitable.

It’s vital that we get a return on investment! So we can’t afford to engage in any activity that does not clearly get us results.

There’s a saying I heard very early on in my career. “If it can’t be measured, it can’t be managed”.

And there’s some truth in that. Every activity you engage in should be measurable by way of the results you’re getting.

To put it very simply… If you can not clearly say “activity Y leads to result X” and know for sure that result X is profitable one, then you should not be engaging in activity Y.

If you’re one of the people that sits there taking no action and is still wondering why nothing happening as quick as you’d like it to I can’t help you until you help yourself…
