There’s no getting away from it…

The Economy has changed (almost) overnight…

It’s contracting, and if you listen to the experts, it will be a while before we see anything different…

And I’m hearing two sets of voices from Recruitment and Search Business Owners…

One group who haven’t really noticed any significant changes… It’s business as usual with maybe a few minor pivots to the way they were already doing things…

And another group who for them, a whole heap of problems have appeared overnight…

The thing is, in most cases, an economic downturn doesn’t ’cause’ problems… It just highlights issues that we’re already there…

It just puts stress on already brittle foundations…

Over-reliance on one or few key clients…

No scalable process for winning new business…

Not managing out under performers…

Over-reliance on one key team member…

Not recruiting for critical roles…

Bad at sales…

Working with slow or non-payers…

These were ALWAYS problems!

When things are on the up you can get away with it, there’s no pressure and everything appears to be working fine…

But when the tide turns, and there’s more pressure things start to break…

Suddenly things that seemed fine become obvious problems and major changes are required…

This is business; it isn’t the first time it’s happened, won’t be the last that’s for sure…

But you have two options… Do nothing and wait for things to (hopefully) fix themselves…
