Saw a question in one of the Recruitment Facebook groups I’m in that said (I’m paraphrasing) …
“What is the easiest way to gain clients? I have loads of candidates, but the roles advertised are mostly from Recruiters. Any advice”
I’ve worked with Recruitment and Search Business Owners in the UK, US, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, generally most English speaking countries, and I’ve seen this question or variations of it more times than I can count…
And although the answer is often simple… The question overlooks some critical things that every Recruitment and Search Business should consider…
The thing is, although easy always sounds attractive… easiest doesn’t always = best…
I’ve said this a thousand times, but not all clients are created equal, and sometimes easy clients are not the best clients or most profitable… Because if they’re easy for you to gain, then they’ll be easier for competing firms to gain too…
And that usually leads to one of two things… Although you may have “won” a client, you’ll be working on job orders competing with multiple firms meaning your chances of actually filling the vacancy and being paid drop well below 30%…
Or even if you’re working with the client exclusively… They lack loyalty and can be poached by a competitor down the line, meaning you miss out on the long term value…
Rather than prioritising ease… Look for ways you can attract the best and most profitable clients…
