Fighting clients off with a stick

I was speaking to my business mentor and friend Jon McColloch on Tuesday, and doing so reminded me of a story he shared a while back.

He’s happily married now, but when he was young, from 14 to late 20s, he found it almost impossible to get a girlfriend.

And… The more desperately he wanted a girlfriend, the harder he tried and the faster and further they’d run.

But, it all changed and quite by accident!

See, he started working as a doorman… and instantly he was a ‘babe magnet.’

Yeah I know, girls always go for the doormen anyway but, he had the added attraction of being a bit different – short, friendly, educated and completely non-aggressive.

And you know what’s really strange?

The less he bothered about the women, and the more he focused on his job of keeping everyone else safe, the more the women chased him.

No kidding… He was practically fighting babes off with a stick…

A terrible problem to have, right?

Anyway, the point is, even though he hasn’t worked the doors for 14 years or so, the lessons he learnt remain as effective today. More to the point, they translate to your Recruitment or Search business perfectly.

And why wouldn’t they?

After all, it’s all about human relationships, whether you’re trying to attract women, men, both or clients…
