But I have a real problem with the lottery…
It’s not the lottery its self I have a problem with…
It’s the people that play it!..
And I’m not talking about the people that play it just for a bit of fun…
I’m talking about the people that play the lottery and use it as their sole strategy for creating wealth…
(It’s not just the lottery BTW, it’s all forms of gambling I feel this way about)
You know the people I mean…
The type of person to burn money on a pocket full of “lucky tickets” instead of investing in themselves.
I used to think people like this would never succeed in life…
In the UK alone, the chances of winning the lottery are 1 in 13,983,816…
You’re actually more likely to get hit by a bus next time you step outside…
But I was wrong…
My wife insists I can never admit when I’m wrong… But there you have it.
It turns out, some woman in Massachusetts called Constance Carpenito, not only won the lottery once…. But she won it twice!
The first time back in 1996 and the second time more recently in November last year…
Winning $1 Million Dollars each time!
(And as far as I’m aware, she’s never been hit by a bus)
But it’s not like she bought two “lucky tickets” on the off chance… There was some strategy involved…
She spends $20 on lottery tickets per week… Every week!
And assuming the first time she won wasn’t the first time she had bought a ticket… She’s being doing this for at least 20 years…
That’s over $20,800 spent on tickets…
But with a $2 million return…
Not bad!
There aren’t many investments that will get you that sort of return…
BUT the problem is…
It’s not duplicable…
You couldn’t walk down to the shops, spend 20K on lottery tickets and expect that kind of return…
You couldn’t event spend 100K of tickets and expect that kind of return…
That would be stupid…
She has been extremely lucky…
And although luck plays its part in everything we do… You should never rely on it!
