Something that comes up quite often when talking to Recruitment and Search Firm Owners about client attraction is whether or not my “style” of marketing would work in their market…
In general, they’re referring to the tone of my emails which some would say can be quite ‘blunt’ and ‘to the point’…
Which is something I would agree with…
But they’re missing the point!…
And doing so is costing them a fortune in potential business profits…
My emails and my marketing messages are ‘aggressive’, ‘blunt’ and ‘to the point’ because that’s exactly what I’m like in real life…
And anybody who’s met me outside of the working environment will confirm that to be the case….
It’s just my personality, which in turn dictates my ‘style’ of marketing….
But marketing your Recruitment or Search Business is not about you or anybody else writing or speaking in “my style”, it’s about you putting your own personally across…
It that so happens to be similar to mine then so be it,
but if it’s not that’s fine too…
It’s about being authentic to who you are!
That’s what makes you stand out in a crowded market….
One of my clients recently asked me who I saw as my main competitors, and the truth is I have none.
Not because there aren’t people who claim to solve the same problem as my services do.
There’s plenty out there…
But none of them can do it in quite the way I do it.
People who like my style will be drawn to me and are my ideal clients,
and people who don’t will go elsewhere,
but they wouldn’t have been right for me anyway, so I haven’t lost out.
The same goes for your business…
There are plenty of people, who sell the same services as you, but when you put your personality in your marketing, there will be no one who does it in quite the way you do it…
Running your own Recruitment or Search business gives you permission to be yourself….
You make the rules!
You no longer need force that ‘corperate front’ you had to back when you had a job, just so the boss would like you…
Now you’re the boss, and you can do whatever you like!
I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again…
When it comes to marketing yours, mine or anybody else’s business, it’s a matter of changing the style, not the substance…
The substance being the regular emails for example, and the style being whose personality comes across in those emails…
