“I need candidates, not clients.”

 

“I don’t know where you got this information from but the biggest problem in Recruitment right now is attracting candidates and not clients.”

Someone commented the above on one of my Facebook videos recently… It’s something I’ve heard before numerous times…

And I can understand why some Recruitment and Search Business Owners might THINK this is their biggest problem, but it’s not…

Almost everytime a Recruitment or Search Business Owners says this, it’s because they’re working on contingency job orders rather than retainers…

They count a “client” as someone who’s given them (and however many Recruiters) a job order and not necessarily someone who has paid for their service…

And they think getting more or better candidates is the only thing standing in the way of them getting paid… which is partly true, I guess…

But the real problem isn’t that you don’t have enough candidates, it’s that you don’t have enough good quality clients, who trust you to get results and so will pay you a retainer up front (or at least use your service exclusively so you’re not fighting it out with 10 other Recruiters for the same pool of candidates)
