Spiderman: “But I’m nothing without the suit..”

Ironman: “If you’re nothing without the suit, then you shouldn’t have it.”

The quote above is taken from the latest Spiderman movie and it reminded me how most Recruitment and Search Firm Owners approach business.

To give you a bit of backstory,

The films about a young Spiderman, he’s like 14 or 15, still in school and although he has the “Spiderman powers.”

He’s still just an inexperienced kid and not quite ready to step up to the big superhero leagues with the rest of the Avengers (Ironman, Thor, Hulk etc.)

He’s a superhero in training if you like,

And as part of this training, Ironman (Tony Stark) has a suit built for Spiderman. And it’s kitted out with all the cool shit you’d expect a real superhero to have.

But he’s told not to use it until he’s fully trained!

And as you might have guessed, 14-year-old Spiderman can’t wait,

Long story short he gets carried away and starts using the suit for things he shouldn’t and ultimately ends up getting himself into a whole heap of shit, nearly kills a few people and Ironman has to swoop in and save the day.

And as further punishment decides to take the suit back.

When I first started out in business, I was exactly the same.

I thought I had to wear “costumes” and “superhero suits” to hide who I really was.

I was trying to overcome youth, inexperience, low confidence, fear and present myself as the “perfect” finished article.

I see Recruitment and Search Firm Owners doing the same thing today, and although it may sound counterintuitive. It’s costing them sales.

No matter how perfectly you present yourself.

Your clients want to see weaknesses, they want to see flaws, they want to see that you’re human… like them.

They want to see that you make mistakes, that you sometimes get things wrong, they want to see that you’re authentic.

This is why as boringly simple as it might sound, simply being yourself and putting your personality in your marketing is one of the best things you can do to put your business head and shoulders above everyone else in the market.

So making the sale become easier and your business will be a lot more profitable!
