I saw a comment on LinkedIn the other day that said… Some Recruiters fill 10% of the vacancies they work, and some fill 90%..
It depends on what side of the equation you want to align your services with..
That isn’t an exact quote, and I can’t remember who said it so forgive me for not giving credit but it’s something I feel is so important and often overlooked…
Improving fill rates is something I focus on heavily with the Recruiters I help…
It’s basically free money sitting there waiting for you to collect without any additional work…
To me, your fill rate is essentially the success rate of your services…
You fill 20% of the roles you work, for example, it means 80% you’re not delivering on the promises you made to your clients (assuming you’ve told them you’ll help them fill the role)…
No one who has been doing this for a significant amount of time has 100% success rate…
But a fill of 90%+ isn’t unobtainable if you have the right processes in place…
Low fill rates turn your delivery into a gamble…
One where you’re more likely to lose than win…
Can you grow a business like this?
100%…
And we both probably know Recruitment business owners who have in the past, are doing so currently and will continue to do so in the future…
But is it the easiest way to grow a business?
100% not…
You have to work harder…
Not that I have anything against hard work… But only when it’s necessary…
It should go without saying that higher fill rates are better for the client (it means you’re delivering on what you promised)… and better for you (means you’ll actually get paid)…
And getting paid more often is without a doubt a more profitable business model than getting paid less often…
