So I mentioned yesterday that my Dad had a gambling problem when I was growing up.
And so, me and my four sisters spent much of our childhood living in either feast or famine.
On the weeks he’d win big, it seemed like we had EVERYTHING we could ever want.
All the bills were paid, there was food in the fridge, my mum would get gifts, my sisters and I would get given sweets.
It was smiles all around.
But on the weeks he’d lose, we’d have nothing.
Literally nothing.
No food, bills went unpaid, no gifts for my mum and certainly no sweets for me and my sisters.
And on these weeks (which was most weeks), there would be no smiles; my parents would fight with each other, they’d often be snappy with me and my sisters…. And we ALL went hungry!
So it probably won’t surprise you to hear I’m strongly against gambling now.
I don’t care if other people do it.
But it’s not for me.
And my biggest problem with it is, with very few exceptions. It lacks strategy.
It relies on nothing but LUCK and HOPE.
And relying on luck and hope for a bit of fun is one thing.
But when it comes to your income, your lifestyle or your kids going hungry…. LUCK and HOPE should not be relied upon because they don’t always work in your favour.
Most people would agree with this.
Which is why I find it strange that the vast majority of Recruitment and Search Firm Owners rely on luck and hope for the growth of their business.
They have no proven, working and reliable system for attracting clients.
Maybe they’ll get a new customer this month.
Maybe they won’t.
But there is no strategy (at least not one that works), and they have no idea where their next client is coming from.
The top Recruitment and Search Firm know EXACTLY where their next client from, and there is very little luck or hope involved because they have a working, predictable and reliable system for bringing new business in and WINNING every time.
Whenever they want to grow their business, they simply follow a particular set of actions that lead to the desired outcome. And it works every single time!
