The lies Recruiters tell themselves

According to a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts in 2002…

60% of adults can’t have a 10-minute conversation without lying at least once…

Apparently, those people who did tell lies actually told an average of three lies during their brief chat…

Not big lies in the scheme of things…

But little seemingly innocent fibs here and there….

And the perhaps even more shocking thing is… They didn’t even realise they were doing it!

Most of them were shocked when they listened back to the recordings of what they had actually said…

(at least that’s what they claimed…)

This surprised me at first…

Not that I think all adults are honest all the time… Far from it…

I was surprised at just how frequent these lies were…

But when I thought about it…

Perhaps this isn’t so shocking….

Most people spend every hour of every day lying to themselves… (I’m including myself in this)

And if we can’t even be truthful with ourselves there is no way in hell we’re going to be truthful to other people…

So…

What are you lying to yourself about the most?

… It’s a question that, if you answer honestly… has the power to tear open any niggling insecurities you have and force you to stare into the gaping wound…
