You may or may not have noticed, but I sign off almost every email, blog, podcast, letter, video or any other communication I put out, with the same few words:
I’ve been doing it for so long now I barely realise I do it,
so you’d be forgiven for not actually noticing consciously either.
I can’t remember where I got it from,
Or why I started saying it.
And although it’s just a few words,
It’s a few words that contain perhaps the two most important business lessons I could ever teach you.
“… take action and be relentless…”
They’re two words that form the backbone of every single successful Recruitment or Search Firm I’ve ever come across, so you’d be stupid for ignoring them.
I’ve been saying it for years now; it’s become I sort of trademark phrase almost by accident and often when I bump into Recruitment and Search Firm Owners at events, or speak to them on the phone, etc. It’s a phrase they repeat back to me.
But here’s the lesson you can take from it, just so we’re clear.
Firstly, nothing has ever or will ever be achieved without first taking action. I touched on this last week, but I can say with absolute certainty there are things in your business that you KNOW you should be doing, but you just haven’t got round to yet.
Usually, because it makes you feel uncomfortable in some way…
Whatever it is, not getting round to it means you’re missing out on untold potential revenue and profits.
If you want to see almost immediate results, just start taking action on the stuff you already know you should be doing.
And secondly, taking action just once, or just a few times, or just for a short period isn’t ever going to be enough.
You’ve got to take action all the time, consistently and relentlessly.
