When I set up my first Recruitment business, I made the made the mistake of thinking that the best recruiter would always win the business…
In fact, I thought that because I offered a better service than my competitors winning business would be easy.
I was dead wrong!
And had to find out the hard way…
But I still see Recruitment and Search Firm Owners making the same mistake today.
They think being the best at what they do gives them a competitive advantage when it comes to attracting new clients…
But being the best counts for nothing!
No matter how much you scream and shout it from the rooftops.
Think about…
You’re planning to remodel your house…
Get some repairs done on your car…
Or have surgery on a long-term shoulder injury…
How can you know for sure that the person you’re buying from is actually competent, reliable, trustworthy and will get the job done?
To take this further… How can you really know if they’re superior to everyone else in the market offering a similar service?
You don’t!
And you never will (without hiring EVERYONE in the market to do the same service you’ll never know for sure)…
You have nothing to go on other than what people say…
And it’s the same for your Recruitment or Search services too.
This is why actually being the best gives you zero competitive advantage…
Especially when consider that literally every Recruitment and Search Firm Owner I’ve ever met believes that they offer a superior service to the rest for the market…
And I’ve met a lot…
They can’t ALL be right,
They can’t all be the best,
But it doesn’t matter anyway.
Actually being the best, offering the best service, getting the best results for your clients only counts AFTER the sale is made…
It only counts when they can experience first-hand how good you really are…
Until that point, the Recruitment or Search Firm Owner who wins the business is very simply the one who is the best at marketing and selling their services…
And that’s why your dream clients are buying from bad recruiters instead of you…
Even though you know you can do a better job…
It has nothing to do with price, nothing to do with luck it all comes down to how good you are at marketing…
