For the past hour or so, I’ve been trying to get my two youngest sons to tidy their rooms…
They’re 6 and 8 years old, and this is a process we go through regularly…
Their rooms aren’t that messy, just a few odd toys on the floor that need picking up, a few clothes put in the dirty laundry basket, it should be a 10-minute job…
But each time I go upstairs to check if they’re finished…
They’ve made practically zero progress and have been distracted by one of the toys they were meant to be tidying away and are playing instead…
This process happens weekly…
What should take 10 minutes ends up taking about 90 minutes…
And I remember the same thing happening with my eldest too…
I wish they would just do what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it…
If they did, the job would be done so much quicker and they could get with the rest of their day…
They’d have more fun and it would certainly make my job a whole lot easier…
But this isn’t something that’s unique to 6 and 8 year olds…
Recruitment and Search Firm owners do it too.
We all do!
If we all just did what we said we were going to do, we would all achieve so much more…
Think about it…
How many times have you said something like, “Todays the day I start my diet” only to be put it off yet again because… “excuses…”
Or todays the day I stop smoking…
Todays the day I raise my prices…
Todays I start going to the gym more regularly…
Todays the day I finally have that difficult conversation with so and so…
What ever it is for you, we make promises to ourselves all the time and break them…
But what if you simply DID what you said you were going to do?
How much more could you achieve…
